The year is 1918.  Olden times.  Old cars drive down
the streets, and men, all men, wear fedora caps and
other types of hats.  the computer still hasn't been
invented, let alone calculators.  Mathemeticians reign
supreme.  Young kids run around playing stickball and
watching the little rascals on their black and white
tv's.  Except for one kid: Leonardo DiCaprio.  he sits
at home and reads comics books and dreams.  He dreams
about the future.  A future where a magical fairy
exists that grants wishes.  One day the fairy appears
in his dreams and grants him one wish.  He wishes for
an animated television show.  A show in which young,
blue creatures live in a forest.  These blue
creatures, known as smurfs, are always hiding from a
witchman named gargamel and his pesky feline azriel. 
While this cartoon never made it to the big screen,
DiCAprio still had his dreams.  Then the depression
came.  and prohibition.  Flappers.
